Every year, O’Connell holds the annual Fire and Ice game. The Fire and Ice game, a fan favorite, pits the boys’ ice hockey team and the girls’ field hockey team to face off in a field hockey match on the stadium field.

The boys’ ice hockey team members faced off in a field hockey match against the girl’s field hockey team on September 26. Both teams wore white “Fire vs Ice” t-shirts. The boys’ and girls’ teams applied eyeblack to their faces in their own style. The game was hard fought as both sides played their hearts out. Max Davies and Kyler Sun scored for the boy’s ice hockey team. However, in the end, the girl’s field hockey team claimed victory over the boys’ ice hockey team, with a final score of 4-2.

The game was called by a special guest, Mr. Owens, AKA Coach O; who made the game very exciting and humorous, as he does with all O’Connell activities. Overall, the game was competitive and exciting. Although very intense, the boys’ ice hockey team and the girls’ field hockey showed plenty of school spirit and true sportsmanship.
